Isabelle Morin is a Member of Parliament with a clear vision for a sustainable and inclusive society.
Alongside Tom Mulcair, she is ready to continue defending the interests of our community in the redrawn
riding of Dorval—Lachine—Lasalle.
Known for her authentic, constituent-focused approach, Isabelle has served as a member of the Standing
Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and the Standing Committee on Health.
As deputy critic for Seniors, she is fighting to restore the retirement age from 67 to 65.
She also serves as the NDP critic for Animal Welfare and was President of the NDP Youth Caucus.
Isabelle has led the charge on key local environmental issues.
She strongly criticized the Conservatives’ decision to eliminate door-to-door mail delivery
and their cuts to our aerospace industry and Employment Insurance benefits.
She has vigorously advocated for stronger protection of our lakes and rivers,
funding for affordable housing and investment in public transit.
Isabelle has a diploma in literature from Cégep François-Xavier Garneau
and a Bachelor of Education from Sherbrooke University.
During her university studies, she was Executive Vice-President of her students’ federation (FEUS)
and sat on the board of directors of the Fédération Universitaire du Québec (FEUQ).
Before entering federal politics, Isabelle travelled to more than 25 countries to do humanitarian work.

| // MORIN (NOTRE-DAME-DE-GRACE—LACHINE) REITERATES HER SUPPORT FOR CANADA-KOREA FREE TRADE AGREEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 29, 2014 – 9:00 am LACHINE - NDP MP Isabelle Morin expresses again her support for the new trade deal reinforcing commercial and economic relations between Canada and South Korea. “The NDP is pleased with Korea’s respect for democracy and human rights, fair labour policies, and good environmental practices. I spoke with many Koreans living in my riding and I share their enthusiasm for this agreement” said the MP for NDG-Lachine, who represents most of the Korean community in Montreal. Canadian exports to South Korea amounted to 7.3 billion dollars in 2013. South Korea is the seventh largest trading partner of Canada. Potential economic benefits are huge in terms of exports and jobs. “This agreement will enable some Canadian industries to enter the Korean market as well as other Asian markets more easily” added Morin. The NDP acknowledges the importance of free trade in this 21st century. However, some points in the agreement still need to be further clarified. The NDP urges the government to make sure the Canadian automobile industry is not adversely impacted by the deal. “It is most unfortunate that the Conservatives would vote down the NDP’s proposed amendments that would have helped protect jobs and workers in the Canadian auto industry” said Morin. |

Having earned a BSc in Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering(공학사 & 전자공학 박사)
Marc first worked as a combat systems engineer in the Canadian Navy.
He became widely known to the Canadian public, however,
as the first Canadian astronaut to go into space. (캐나다 최초의 우주 비행사)
He subsequently served in several different positions, including President of the Canadian Space Agency,
until he entered federal politics in 2005.
In addition to having drafted several resolutions in the House,
Marc has served as the Liberal Critic for Industry, Science, and Technology, as well as for Natural Resources.
He was also the Leader of the Liberal Party’s representative in Quebec and served as the party’s House Leader.
He is currently the Liberal Critic for Foreign Affairs and the Francophonie.
Marc has received several honours. In 2003, he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada.

as is a spaceship in a book that is part of the popular Star Trek series (Millennium: The Fall of Terok Nor).

꼭 투표해야하는 이유 10.19 총선이 ‘앞으로 2주’가 남았다고 본보 3일자는 1면 머릿기사에서 지적하면서 동포들의 투표참여를 독려했다. 19일 총선이 앞으로 5년간의 우리 인생을 결정하기 때문이다. 10년 가까이 절대권력으로 독재 통치한 보수당의 스티븐 하퍼를 다시 5년간 더 볼 것인가, 아니면 저소득층이나 변두리적 인생을 사는 이민자/ 피난민/불법체류자들을 돌보는 신민당의 멀 케어, 그렇지 않으면 비교적 저소득-중산층에 기반을 둔 자유당의 젊은 지도자 저스틴 트루도를 맞을 것인가는 이 선거에 달렸다. 중- 저 소득층으로 사는 한인들은 “자유당이나 신민당은 다 좋지만 보수당은 아니오”라는데는 일치하는 듯하다. 그러나 보수당의 재집권을 막으려면 선거날 최대한으로 많은 한인들이 선거장에 나타나야 한다. 보수당이 싫다는 말 만으로는 안된다. 지난달 9일 본보는 총선에 관한 한인 표심조사를 보도했다. 비과학적이긴 해도 이 조사에 의하면 41%가 ‘지지정당 없다’고 답했고 22%는 ‘정하지 못했다’고 했다. 거의 절반 가까운 한인이 지지정당이 없다는 것은 한인들의 정치무관심을 증거하는 것은 아닌지? 10%는 ‘관심되는 이슈가 없다’고 했는데 이땅에 살면서 어떻게 관심되는 문제가 없는지. 물론 지금쯤 여론조사하면 건설적 방향으로 의견이 달라졌겠지만 다가온 총선에 관심두어야 하겠다. ======================================================== 부모 및 자녀 초청 등 신속화 약속 보수당은 부모초청마저 연 5천 명 쿼터로 제약 헌법상의 종교자유와 이민자 문화 무시  선거초반부터 계속 최고의 국민적 인기를 누리다가 최근 제2, 제3위치로 떨어진 신민당NDP은 이민자들에게 중요한 이민정책을 최근 발표했다. 전 토론토시장 출마자로서 신민당의 중요 지도자이며 정계 거물급인 올리비아 차우가 발표한 이민정책은 다분히 신규이민자들과 난민들의 정착과 가족결합을 쉽게, 빠르게 도울 것으로 보인다. 차우는 토론토 스파다이나-포트 요크 선거구에서 출마, 아담 본Adam Vaughan 시의원-연방의원 출신 자유당 출마자와 경쟁 중이다. 우선 신민당은 집권할 경우 외국에 떨어져 있는 부모와 조부모가 국내 자식들과 합류를 신청할 경우 그 수에 제한 없이 결합을 허용할 예정이다. 스티븐 하퍼의 연방정부는 부모 조부모에게도 연간 쿼터를 설정, 가족결합을 제한한다. 작년의 경우 최대는 5천명이었다. 이때문에 국내의 합법적 거주자가 해외부모를 초청하려 해도 다음해 쿼타에 들 때까지 기다려야 했다. 이같은 정책탓에 많은 이민자들이 불편을 고수하면서 출신국에 자주 송금하는 사태가 초래됐다. 신민당은 신속한 부모초청을 위해서 4년간 6천5백만 달러를 투입, 현재의 시민권/이민부를 강화할 계획이다. 차우 후보는 “외국주재 심사관을 증원하고 제도를 컴퓨터화할 계획”이라고 말했다. 신민당은 이같은 개혁의 하나로 영주권자의 자녀초청도 신속화, 최장 6개월 이내 합류시키겠다고 밝혔다. 현 보수당은 기술이민Skilled Worker Immigration 에 한해서는 우선적으로 신속처리한다. 신민당은 또한 부부초청도 개혁, 부부 중 해외 배우자가 국내 배우자와 동거하기 위해서 캐나다에 도착하면 즉시 영주권을 주겠다고 밝혔다. 지금은 자녀가 있거나 최소 2년간 동거하지 않은 배우자는 최소 2년 이상 국내에서 동거했을 경우에 한해서만 영주권을 준다. 보수당의 이같은 까다로운 부부이민 정책은 사기성 결혼이민을 막기 위해서였으나 “만일 해외 이민관이 사실여부를 잘 구분하면 아무런 문제가 없을 것.”이라고 차우는 말했다. 이에 대해서 저스틴 트루도가 이끄는 자유당은 부모연간 쿼터를 연간 1만 명으로 상향할 방침이다. 신민당인 이밖에 이민에 관해 아래와 같은 정책을 구상중이다. *난민에게 의료서비스 제공 * 외국서 발행된 자격증 심사위원회 신설 *고용주들이 새 이민자들을 더욱 고용하도록 장려 * 방문비자 거부에 대한 재심절차 창설. * 시민/이민부에 대한 불평불만 심사관실 창설 한편 집권 보수당은 캐나다 출생자라도 테러활동에 연관됐다면 시민권을 박탈하고 추방하며, 캐나다헌법의 인종불문, 문화의 다양성과 종교자유, 양심의 자유 등 규정에 불구하고 이슬람문화와 전통을 노골적으로 배척한다. 중동 난민의 유입을 거부했다가 반대여론이 일자 문호를 개방하는 정책으로 바꿨다.
